It was an honour to have known Anne.
Her commitment, her work, her sense of humour and her personality and presence were nothing like I've experienced with anyone else ever.
She will remain forever in our thoughts and our hearts.
We will miss you dearly Anne.

I worked closely with Anne over a number of years, she at Leeds, me at Sheffield - co-supervising students and research projects. Her energy and enthusiasm were limitless. Her achievements in the world of tribology, corrosion, and lots of other things are outstanding. There are many colleagues from all over the world who will attest to that. But I'll also remember her as a kind, warm, and funny person. I just posted a photo of Anne eating an ice cream at Swindon station. She and I had just been given a thorough grilling by panel of experts at the EPSRC - bidding for a large research grant which we ultimately won. We were well prepared and the interview had gone smoothly. We came out happy like children and Anne bought ice creams. That is how I choose to remember Anne - inspirational scientist, engineer, academic - and eater of ice cream.
