Room mates

Created by Diana one year ago

As youngsters in rival primary schools, we met playing badminton and netball then by chance ended up sharing a room together at Glasgow uni, Horslethill House, for 2 years. I don’t know how you put up with me really; we were so different.  I was always out on the ran-dan and you were mostly to be found at your desk. Your work ethic was immense frombthe start.

I would rib you, an intelligent woman, for reading the Daily Record as you would sit down for your coffee break with your apple and newspaper. Too many big words in your studies, you’d say. The Daily Record has no sentences over 5 words long and they're all short words, you said 😆. You had a dry sense of humour, and you delivered it perfectly.  You were also a shrewd judge of character and could read a room.

At the weekends and end of term when money was short, we’d head to Banana Joe’s on Byres Road. We’d buy their out  of date veg and make a huge pot of ratatouille to last the week. I still have a love hate relationship with ratatouille.

I am so proud to have known you, Anne. So in awe of what you went on to achieve. Rest in peace, my friend.
